New and Evolving JUNOS Partnerships Help Power the First Live, In-Person Awards in Three Years

JUNO sponsors fuel the future of Canada’s world-leading music community through innovation, inclusion, storytelling and experiences

 

TORONTO – The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is thrilled to announce its brand partners for The 2022 JUNO Awards. TD Bank Group elevates its storied support by signing on as Premier Sponsor, a newly created designation.  SiriusXM Canada and TikTok return as lead sponsors alongside Sonos, after partnering with the awards for the first-time last year. Audio-Technica, CBC Music, Cadillac Fairview and Johnnie Walker / World Class Canada  have come on as Platinum Partners and the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, Audible and Chatters Hair Salon join as Gold Partners.

Exclusive Broadcast and Content Partner

As part of its six-year agreement, CBC returns as the Exclusive Broadcast and Content Partner for the JUNO Awards. Canadians can tune into the 2022 JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates livestreamed at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT on Saturday, May 14 via CBCMusic.ca/junos, CBC Gem and globally on CBC Music’s Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Youtube pages.  The 2022 JUNO Awards, hosted by Marvel Studios star of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, Simu Liu, will broadcast live from Budweiser Stage on Sunday, May 15 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT nationwide on CBC TV, CBC Radio One and CBC Music, and streamed live on CBC Gem, CBC Listen, and globally at CBCMusic.ca/junos, and CBC Music’s Facebook, Twitter and Youtube pages.  

As title sponsor, CBC Music presents this year’s CBC Music JUNOfest which takes over iconic music venues throughout the city highlighting an unparalleled roster of Canadian artists and 2022 JUNO Award nominees. A series of curated concerts such as the jazz showcase hosted by Ismaila Alfa, The Block showcase hosted by Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe and the Indigenous Music showcase hosted by Falen Johnson will take place now and throughout JUNO Week. All revenue from select shows will directly support the MusiCounts Band Aid Program, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. CBC Music will also present the Alternative Album of the Year category at the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates on May 14.

Leading up to this year’s celebration, TD powered the JUNOS’ Submissions Access Program; created to support Canadian, indie-artists from underrepresented communities to help with submission fees for the 2022 JUNO Awards. This year’s program funded over 200 artist submissions, three of whom blossomed into first-time nominations for ​​Cérena, Adrian Sutherland and Manitou Mkwa Singers. TD will also debut a custom-produced 60-second spot featuring Ceréna during the 2022 JUNO Awards Broadcast. 

TD continues to showcase its passion for music and culture through its support of the MusiCounts TD Community Music Program, which grants up to $20,000 for community groups and not-for-profits to purchase musical instruments, equipment, and resources. 

In celebration of this year’s JUNOS, TD is opening its previously in-person only VIP TD Green Room event, to fans for the first time ever! The event features performances by a surprise headliner, and JUNO nominees Adrian Sutherland and Ceréna, in the unique, historic setting of Union Station. The TD Green Room event will take place May 11th, at Union Station Bay St. Promenade, 4:00-6:00pm and is free to the public.

On the big night, the TD Green Carpet will guide TD cardholders to a special fly past the line entrance for accelerated access into Budweiser Stage.

Lastly, for the second year in a row, TD will present the Canadian Music Hall of Fame Induction and Performance of Deborah Cox at this year’s JUNO Awards Broadcast.

SiriusXM Canada, the country’s leading audio entertainment company, returns as a Lead Sponsor marking over 15 years of supporting artists as an award and event sponsor.  SiriusXM Canada will be present throughout JUNO Week at events including the Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class Showcase Presented by SiriusXM (Friday, May 13th), the JUNO Comedy Show Presented by SiriusXM Canada (Saturday, May 14th) and the JUNO Awards Broadcast (Sunday, May 15th) where the prestigious category Group of the Year Presented by SiriusXM Canada will be awarded. At the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates, SiriusXM will present the Artist of the Year and Comedy Album of the Year categories. 

Entertainment platform TikTok has signed on as Lead Sponsor for the second year, and for the first time, as title sponsor of TikTok JUNO Fan Choice. TikTok is also the Official Voting Platform, allowing fans across the globe to vote in-app for their favourite JUNO-nominated artists or via junofanchoice.ca for additional voting options. Voting is unlimited and fans are encouraged to vote by the minute, hour, day, and week for their favourite JUNO-nominated artists up until 9 pm EST the night of the broadcast May 15, 2022. The winner of Tiktok JUNO Fan Choice  will be announced live on the broadcast that evening.  

Sonos rises to Lead Sponsor and first-time name-in-title sponsor of the Sonos JUNO Awards Red Carpet, the largest red carpet in Canada. The brand will create an  immersive one-of-a-kind audio-visual experience with Sonos speakers enhancing the overall enjoyment for the artists and Canadian talent walking the carpet as well as the media and fans in attendance. In addition, Sonos will present the Adult Alternative Album of the Year at the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates on Saturday, May 14.

First-time sponsor, Audio-Technica has signed on for a multi-year deal as the Official Pro Audio Partner of the JUNOS, providing audio equipment for both the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates and the 2022 JUNO Awards Broadcast. Audio-Technica is also the presenting sponsor of the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year Award which will be presented at the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates on Saturday, May 14 as well as running an Instagram contest where fans can win sound equipment and an unforgettable experience at the 2022 JUNO Awards. Fans will also get the opportunity to try out their incredible roster of sound equipment via their activation at Budweiser Stage on May 15. 

Cadillac Fairview is back to host Music fans across the Greater Toronto Area with a once-in-a-lifetime chance for some face time with Canadian artists at this year’s CF JUNO Fan Fare, taking place at CF Toronto Eaton Centre (220 Yonge St.) on Saturday, May 14. The fan-centric event will feature photo sessions, interviews and performances with treasured Canadian artists including: 347aidan, Elijah Woods, Emanuel, Faouzia, JP Saxe, Lauren Spencer-Smith, Savannah Ré, Tesher, TOBi and Valley. This year’s lineup of artists boast a combined total of over 160 million likes and 8 million followers on TikTok, making this year’s CF JUNO Fan Fare likely to have more than a few viral moments. 

Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch Whisky / World Class Canada will return as the official spirits partner of the JUNO Awards. James Grant – World Class Canada and Global Bartender of the Year 2021 will be serving the “JUNOS Johnnie Walker Hi-Ball” at select JUNO Week events, created exclusively to celebrate Canada’s best in music. James will also be a presenter at the JUNO Opening Night Awards on May 14.

Representing Indigenous-owned tourism operators and destinations across the country, first-time sponsor, the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) will present this year’s award for Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year at the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates on May 14.  ITAC embodies “Reconciliation in Action” and will present the Indigenous Honouring Ceremony followed by a reception with a menu curated and cooked by Chef Joseph Shawana, Odawa Wiikwemkoong on May 13 to kick off JUNO Weekend.

First-time partner Audible, a leading creator and provider of premium audio storytelling, will be bringing talent from their popular Canadian Audible Originals to walk the exclusive JUNO Awards Sonos Red Carpet. 

Returning partner Chatters Hair Salon is Canada’s top destination for hair services and professional hair products both in-store and online. As the Official Hair Salon of the 2022 JUNO Awards, Chatters will provide touch-ups and tips to attendees as well as hair services backstage at both the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Ontario Creates and the 2022 JUNO Awards Broadcast; helping get artists JUNO ready. 

CBC broadcast and live stream Host Simu Liu will debut a look by “Harold”, a new custom-made label by Harry Rosen, at the JUNOS.
