In the final episode of Re/Worked: The Greedy Sessions, composer and violinist Aaron Paris, alongside Strings From Paris, delivers a one-of-a-kind transformation of this chart-topping anthem. With a stunning classical twist, their reimagining showcases the powerful ability of classical music to resonate with contemporary audiences.
Meet Aaron Paris and Strings from Paris
Six-time Grammy-nominated producer, composer, and artist Aaron Paris has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Ariana Grande, Kanye West, Drake, DJ Khaled, and Kali Uchis. Driven by a passion for merging classical and contemporary sounds, Paris founded Strings From Paris in 2022 to break down the traditional barriers of classical music.
This collective of classically trained string players aims to inspire the next generation of instrumentalists and producers by creating spaces where classical music seamlessly intersects with hip-hop, R&B, pop, and beyond. Through live performances, educational workshops, and world-class arrangements, Aaron and his ensemble are redefining what it means to be a classical artist in the 21st century.
“greedy” Meets Classical Elegance
In the third episode of Re/Worked, Aaron Paris unveils his creative process, transforming “greedy” into a classical masterpiece. Using a rich chamber ensemble of violin, violas, cellos, and grand piano, he reworks key elements of McRae’s pop hit, honouring the original while crafting something entirely new. His goal? To bridge the gap between classical and pop, resonating with fans of both genres.
“One thing that classical music is based on is taking ideas, motifs, and fragments, and developing them to tell a story,” Aaron shares in the episode. And Aaron’s reinterpretation of “greedy” does just that.
“I hope the audience can first see the similarities between the two styles and recognize the fragments, and then get immersed in this classical world,” he explains. “I hope it sparks an interest in composers they haven’t heard of, helps them discover music that excites them in the same way pop songs do, and inspires them to experience classical music in a fun way.”
