The JUNO Awards are the largest Cultural Property in Canada, celebrating nearly 50 years of the best in Canadian music. The JUNOS travel to a new host city every year, working with new locations and new teams every time. As we begin a new year, many details and schedules will be finalized as we approach JUNO Week.
If you have a flexible schedule and are comfortable confirming specific details later in the process, this opportunity is a great fit for you. We work with volunteers to help unpack shipments, set up offices and event spaces, deliver items at venues across town, greet guests, survey attendees, and assist teams at JUNOS events, and much more.
We are looking for skilled specialty team members to support Transportation, PR, Production, and to help out at JUNOfest Presented by CBC Music on Friday and Saturday nights. We utilize an interactive portal for applicants to learn more about JUNO Week and our volunteer opportunities.
Following are answers to specific questions. We will continue to update throughout the program.
Q: Who is this volunteer opportunity open to?
A: We are looking for individuals aged 19 and older, at every level of experience. Some assignments will require specific skills but others are entry-level opportunities. Those from outside the Saskatoon area are welcome, however travel and accommodation are not provided.
Q: What is the time commitment for volunteering?
A: Volunteers are primarily needed during JUNO week, March 9-15, as well as Monday, March 16. We are the busiest Thursday through Sunday, March 12-15. Each volunteer is required to commit to a minimum of two shifts throughout the weekend.
Q: When will I find out if I am selected?
A: We will review applications and start to build the team once we have completed our recruitment outreach. Applicants will be updated on next steps in the process throughout the program.
Q: When will I receive my schedule?
A: The schedule typically starts opening mid-February and we are pleased to offer self-scheduling. Active volunteers will gain access to the schedule to sign up once selected. You will have the opportunity to sign up for the shifts of your choice based on availability at the time of scheduling.
Q: Can I be scheduled at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?
A: Volunteers will have the opportunity to self-schedule from available shifts. If completed at the same time, you should be able to achieve this goal. Make sure to include the name of the person you want to volunteer with on the application. Missed telling us? Send us a note at [email protected].
Q: When is Volunteer Orientation?
A: Our Orientation and Kick Off event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 in Saskatoon (venue and timing to be confirmed). It’s there that you will pick up your volunteer package (uniform and accreditation), receive information on 2020 JUNO events, meet your committee lead, and have the opportunity to ask questions about your volunteer experience.
Q: What is the volunteer uniform?
A: Typically, all volunteers are provided with an official 2020 JUNO t-shirt to be worn with pants or skirts and clean shoes. Volunteers are required to wear this uniform while on duty unless otherwise directed.
Q: How can I learn more?
A: Fill out an application to be updated on program details and JUNO Week information. You are not considered a committed, confirmed volunteer until you have signed up for duty.
