Founded by Syrian-Canadian singer Leen Hamo and Lebanese-Canadian jazz musician John Abou Chacra, Kazdoura is known for their deeply personal lyrics that explore identity, belonging, loss, and the immigrant/refugee experience. The band first gained viral recognition on TikTok with covers of Arabic classics, and more recently with their hit song Khayal.
Rooted in Levantine Arabic music and driven by genre-bending experimentation, Kazdoura fuses Arabic maqams with Middle Eastern grooves, psychedelia, and soulful jazz saxophone to create fresh and electrifying Arabic compositions. Their debut album Ghoyoum (Clouds), released in March 2025, has already surpassed 1M streams across platforms.
In the past two years, they have toured nationally and internationally, and were selected to showcase at Folk Music Canada, Mundial Montréal, and WOMEX Expo in Europe.
