Rooted (2017) is the fourth self-produced album of Indo-Tanzanian Canadian artist Alysha Brilla. The fusion album features live instrumentation of Tabla, Sitar, Djembe and horns, mixing roots/soul sounds with Indian and African influences. Lyrically, Rooted speaks on strength and positivity in times of global troubles. With rhythms reminiscent of Bob Marley, soulful playfulness of Amy Winehouse and the spiritual undertones of Indian music, Rooted is the musical reflection of Brilla and the mixed household she grew up in. Recorded and mixed by Denis Tougas in Toronto.
