Bobby Rice currently leads one of the most exciting Latin jazz big bands in Canada, which regularly features the multi-JUNO Award winning Hilario Durán—his 2007 Latin jazz big band album received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Improvised Jazz Solo (Paquito D’Rivera) – and many more of Canada’s finest jazz musicians (e.g., Phil Dwyer, Bill McBirnie, Al Kay, Ted Quinlan, Mark Kelso, Alex Dean, Kevin Turcotte, et al).
He is currently a part-time professor in the Humber College Music Program in Toronto and holds a master’s degree in composition to complement his B.A in Jazz Studies and Humber College Music Diploma. He has also received four grants (composition and recording) from the OAC and TAC respectively.
His seven-piece Latin jazz group has performed at numerous jazz festivals in virtually every major jazz festival in Ontario. Bobby has also performed and/or recorded with: Shania Twain, Mary Wilson (Supremes), Frankie Vali, Frankie Avalon, the Drifters, Dick Clark, Joan Rivers Louise Pitre, Robert Pilon, Colm Wilkinson, Michael Burgess, Jackie Richardson, Rich Little, Rik Emmett (Triumph), Jane Bunnett, Hiliario Duran, NOJO, George Oliver, George St. Kitts, Diego Marulanda & Pacande, Judy & David and many more.
