Vita's career began at the age of 15 in Barbados, where the Canadian born singer was raised, when she posted a video and four of her original songs on her Myspace page. Two weeks later, Evan Rogers from SRP Records flew down to Barbados from New York and signed her to his production company… the same company that discovered and signed Rihanna and developed her into an international star. Shortly after, in June 2009, Vita was signed to Universal Motown by then label president Sylvia Rhone.
The 2 years that followed were a whirlwind for Vita! She was the opening act at the November 2009 Thanksgiving Day NFL half-time show, featuring a Motown Review including other Universal artists Hal Linton, Kem, Shontelle and Melanie Fiona. In 2010, Vita toured over 25 cities with Justin Bieber as one of his opening acts on his My World Tour, toured with Forever The Sickest Kids, performed at Pop-Con with Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, at Bamboozle Road Show, and performed a duet with Estelle at the 2010 Soul Train Music Awards in Atlanta. Vita was also one of the performers on Sarah McLachlan's 2010 Lilith Fair revival, which included Eryka Badu, Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, Miranda Lambert and Mary J. Blige. Vita documented her time on the Lilith Fair tour in a music and fashion diary for Teen Vogue.
Now, with the release of "Fix You" Vita is aiming to reclaim her place in the mainstream. "Now that I am older and writing my own songs, it was only natural for me to want to record the type of music that I love. I love dance music as well as other types of genres, but I really wanted the first single to reflect my style and who I am as a person", said Vita.
