COMPENSATION: $17.60/hour, paid biweekly

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

CARAS was created to preserve and enhance the Canadian music industry and to contribute towards higher artistic and industry standards. CARAS’ mandate is comprised of four key pillars: Educate through our music education charity MusiCounts’ programs and initiatives, Develop emerging artists through mentorship and development programs, Celebrate Canadian artists through The JUNO Awards and other year-round initiatives, and Honour music industry icons through the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

OVERALL POSITION 

The Junior Editor, Motion & Video (Intern) will support the design and production of digital and video assets for The JUNO Awards, The Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and related CARAS initiatives. Working closely with the Senior Designer and the broader Content team, this role offers hands-on experience creating dynamic visuals for social media and digital platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Edit short-form social videos for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
  • Assist in the creation of motion graphics, lower thirds, title cards, and animated elements for social videos and branded content.
  • Design and animate video graphics optimized for 9:16, 1:1, and 16:9 formats.
  • Prepare design files for handoff and assist with versioning assets for different platforms.
  • Stay current with design and social content trends, contributing creative ideas during team brainstorms.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Understanding of key design principles, including typography, layout, and animation timing.
  • Basic video editing skills and understanding of social-first storytelling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to take direction while meeting deadlines.
  • Portfolio or reel showcasing motion design and/or social video work (student projects welcome).
  • Experience with audio syncing, sound design, colour correction, or 3D tools such as Cinema 4D or Blender is an asset, but not required.

This internship provides valuable workplace experience ideal for students seeking a placement or looking to build their portfolio. Academic credit is not required to apply.
