Kattam – part Canadian and part Morrocan – first trained in classical music. He then studied percussions in Cuba, Guinea, Morocco and India. On the music scene, Kattam has been an member of several bands including Ayrad (currently), Wesli Band, Bambara Trans, La Mandragore, La Famille Zon, Niyaz. His experiences have included collaborations with such renowned artists such as Marie-Mai, Éric Lapointe, Lynda Thalie, Mes Aïeux, Mélissa Lavergne, The Losts Fingers, Manu Militari, Luc Boivin and the Belle et Bum team. His resume includes other experiences as well: film music, television performances, children theatre, teaching, team-building instructor.
Drawing on his extensive experience with youth and family audiences, with close to 200 shows per year, Kattam created his first solo performance "Kattam et ses Tam-Tams." The show has been successfully presented in daycare centres and elementary schools, as well as in performance venues across Canada. In addition, Kattam release his debut music album De Tombouctou à Bombay in February 2016. The album was nominated for an ADISQ Award (“Album of the Year – Youth”), also earning two nominations at the Canadian Folk Music Awards (“World Solo Artist of the Year” and “Youth Album of the Year”).
