ADULT CONTEMPORARY ALBUM OF THE YEAR | Chantal Kreviazuk | | The JUNO Awards

From the urgent opening chords to the first words in her new single “Into Me”, the message is clear: Chantal Kreviazuk is back.
After seven years, three kids and collaborations with stars like Drake, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera and Kendrick Lamar, the JUNO Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter’s latest album

After seven years, three kids and collaborations with stars like Drake, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera and Kendrick Lamar, the JUNO Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter’s latest album Hard Sail is a collection of jaw-dropping hits that comes out of nowhere, but took a lifetime to write. Since her last album Plain Jane was released in 2009, she’s had three boys with husband/Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida, acted in films, dedicated herself to organizations like War Child, and was made a member of the Order of Canada in 2014. On Hard Sail, Kreviazuk is at her best as a songwriter and artist, arguably because of time, saying: “You get to a certain age and you just don’t care what others think. I feel so much more creative freedom in that.”
More than that, the album is a moment in time; Kreviazuk has lived a lifetime in the past seven years and the collection of songs acknowledges that.
