2026 JAZZ ALBUM OF THE YEAR (SOLO) I Renee Rosnes | | The JUNO Awards

Renee Rosnes’ distinguished career continues to reach higher levels marked by new music and exciting collaborations. Upon moving to New York from Vancouver, Canada in the mid-80’s, she quickly established a reputation of high regard, touring and recording with such masters as Wayne Shorter, Bobby Hutcherson, JJ Johnson, Joe Henderson and James Moody. In 1990, Renee released her debut album on Blue Note Records and went on to record 10 solo albums for the label.

Renee’s latest solo release, “Crossing Paths” (Smoke Sessions) is her 19th as a leader, and is an exhilarating excursion of Brazilian jazz featuring a stellar band. The album enjoyed 6 weeks in the #1 spot on the JazzWeek National Radio charts, which documents both American and Canadian airplay.

In 2020, Renee returned to Blue Note Records as musical director and pianist of the ensemble ARTEMIS, who were awarded “Jazz Group of the Year” in both 2023 and 2024 in the Downbeat Readers Poll. The quintet’s third Blue Note recording, “ARBORESQUE” was released Feb. 2025. At the Montréal International Jazz Festival 2018, Renee was presented with the Oscar Peterson Prize in recognition of her exceptional contributions to jazz. She is also a 15-year member of legendary bassist Ron Carter’s Foursight Quartet. Renee Rosnes’ image graced the cover of Downbeat Magazine’s January 2025 issue.
