Aphrose is a dynamic force in Canada’s musical landscape, embodying the essence of Soul, Jazz, R&B and Gospel. Her unique sound blends vintage soul with contemporary influences, creating music that transcends time and resonates deeply with listeners. In 2023, Aphrose made her European and UK debut, performing to a sold-out crowd in London and showcasing at the Netherlands’ New Skool Rules Festival. She was also featured on CBC Music’s “Elite 50” list in their Searchlight Competition, a nationwide search for emerging talent. Hand-picked from thousands of applications, Aphrose joined the prestigious RBCx Music First Up Program, designed to help emerging artists refine their craft and reach new audiences. Her single “YaYa” premiered exclusively on CBC’s “The Block,” while her song “Roses” secured the #50 spot on their Top 100 Songs of 2023.

That same year, Aphrose achieved global recognition when Black Entertainment Television (BET) featured her video “Roses” on BETSoul. The track was also highlighted in CBC Music’s “Songs You Need To Hear” series, further solidifying her presence in the music scene. Her work has gained traction in Europe, with airplay on esteemed platforms like BBC Radio 6, Italy’s Radio Capital, Radio France, and Spain’s RTVE, in addition to significant coverage in North America.

Aphrose’s album “Roses” received accolades from publications such as SOCAN Words & Music Magazine, NOW Toronto, Toronto Star, and Fader Magazine, where her artistry was described as “confident and mature beyond what should be expected from an indie release. Her voice: she’s just a vocal beast.” She has collaborated with Grammy, Soul Train, Polaris and JUNO nominated/winning artists like Daniel Caesar, Charlotte Day Wilson, Jessie Reyez and Tanika Charles, establishing herself as a sought-after background vocalist for some of Canada’s finest musicians.

Her performances opening for icons like Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace) on their Moon vs. Sun tour have further solidified her reputation as an artist to watch. Aphrose recently had two of her songs off the Roses album synced to a feature film, “Welcome” in October 2024 and performed at key showcases such as NXNE, Come Together, Global Toronto Music Festival, and JUNOFest ’24. Aphrose won the R&B Canada award for Best R&B Album/EP of the Year in 2024 and appeared on Canada’s Global TV “The Morning Show,” sharing the stage with guests like Chris Hadfield.
