Nimkii and the Niniis is a First Nations musical group collective from Wiikwemkoong Uceded territory, and various parts of central Ontario, whose debut EP Nang Giizhigoong was a JUNO Award nominee for Traditional Indigenous Artist of the Year at the JUNO Awards of 2022.
The band, led by Nimkii Osawamick, performs traditional Anishinabek drumming and choral singing. NATN released their 2nd EP ‘LFS5’ (Live from Shed 5), dedicated to language speakers and residential school survivors. NATN was also the first drum group to showcase Turtle Islands music on the OffWomex stage at the World Music Expo in A Coruna, Spain, 2023.
