With interests from baroque to metal, Toronto cellist Amahl Arulanandam is known for his musical versatility and ability to adapt to many genres. At home in studios, clubs, and halls, he hopes to convey that musical expression is beyond labels. Soprano Charlotte Mundy has been called a “daredevil with an unbreakable spine” (SF Classical Voice). She is a member of TAK ensemble and Ekmeles vocal ensemble. JUNO Award-winning conductor and composer, Brian Current has been lauded for leading exceptional performances of outstanding repertoire. Passionate about detail of gesture, colour and texture, he is known for conducting definitive and impactful

performances of uncompromising music. Assembled by Bekah Simms uniquely for this recording project, Cryptid Ensemble is an ad-hoc chamber orchestra conducted by Brian Current and made up of Toronto’s most exciting and eclectic musical personalities. A leading Canadian chamber orchestra, the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+) has premiered more than 281 works since its founding in 1987, including three operas and a majority of works for large ensembles. Renowned for her flair and audacity, founding artistic director Véronique Lacroix communicates her passion through daring performances, painting “a portrait of an effervescent landscape in perpetual mutation” (La Scena Musicale, 2018).
