2023 JAZZ ALBUM OF THE YEAR (SOLO) | Renee Rosnes | | The JUNO Awards

Pianist/composer Renee Rosnes has released 17 albums as a leader garnering five Junos, (including one for the band, “Free Trade”). She has toured with jazz masters Wayne Shorter, JJ Johnson, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson and James Moody, and is currently a member of the quartet of legendary bassist Ron Carter and is featured on his 2021 album, “Live in Stockholm, Vol. 1 & 2”.

She is musical director of the band ARTEMIS who record for Blue Note. Along with Joshua Redman, Rosnes is a founding member of the SFJAZZ Collective and toured/recorded with the all-star group for six years. In 2015, she played on four tracks in duet with pianist Bill Charlap, accompanying Tony Bennett on their Grammy Award winning album, “The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern.” Rosnes has composed over one hundred compositions for groups ranging from small groups to string orchestras and big bands. Her work has been commissioned by Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Tisch Center for the Arts, SFJAZZ and the Danish Radio Jazz Band. In 2018, the Montréal Jazz Festival presented Renee with the Oscar Peterson Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to jazz.
