2023 CONTEMPORARY INDIGENOUS ARTIST OR GROUP OF THE YEAR | Indian City | | The JUNO Awards

Founded by the late Vince Fontaine in 2012, Indian City is a JUNO-nominated multi-award-winning pop/rock/folk group based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Fontaine had a vision to feature and bring together exceptional Indigenous talent to his musical collective akin to the Toronto-based Broken Social Scene and global influences such as Carlos Santana’s Supernatural. Indian City’s live fusion of lyrics, music, and personality express the modern conscience of today’s Indigenous people, highlighting relevant issues past, present, and future.

Indian City has now partnered with Warner Music Canada, who successfully re-released the band’s fourth album ”Code Red” on September 30th, 2022, to coincide with Truth & Reconciliation Day.

Official music videos of 3 pre-released singles from Code Red: “Star People” featuring Jim Cuddy, “Wannabe” featuring Chantal Kreviazuk, and “The Path” featuring Indian City’s Jeremy Koz, have collectively garnered over 206,000 views, with the number increasing daily! “Wannabe” entered the Indigenous Music Countdown and climbed all the way to #1, and the song’s video was also showcased on the IMC website.

Indian City remains one of the most respected Indigenous Groups on the planet, having built and sustained the highest level of artistic excellence for over a decade, and shows no signs of slowing down!
