Their 5th LP Head Over Heels came out in 2018 to critical acclaim, a Grammy nomination and two years’ worth of sold-out shows across the globe. The Quarantine Casanova EP was released in June 2020 at the height of the Black Lives Matter protests. Chromeo donated all proceeds from the EP’s digital downloads, vinyl and merch to Know Your Rights Camp’s COVID Relief Fund. Clorox took notice and matched Chromeo’s contributions. All in all, over $75,000 were raised for COVID relief in Black and POC communities disproportionately affected by the virus.
Mere months later, tragedy struck in PThugg’s hometown of Beirut. Once again, the Funklordz mobilized and their ad-hoc Lebanesethemed merch capsule raised over $20,000 for disaster relief. One thing the Funklordz could not do over the past year, however, was tour.
