2020 VOCAL JAZZ ALBUM OF THE YEAR | Dominique Fils-Aimé | | The JUNO Awards

Dominique Fils-Aimé is a Polaris Music prize-nominated singer-songwriter from Montreal who draws inspiration from soul icons of the 40’s and 60’s such as Billie Holiday, Etta James, and Nina Simone. While her musical roots are grounded in early soul and jazz, her sound transcends contemporary urban soundscapes.

Following her participation in the hit TV show The Voice in 2015 in which she made it to the semi-finals, she self-produced her first recording, The RED EP.

Moving on from her 2018 debut full-length blues-tinged Nameless — which boldly confronted historical silences and sorrows — Stay Tuned! is both a call for and reminder of revolution expressed with the fury of red-hot jazz.
Wanting to break away from the standards of traditional compositions, Dominique presents a body of work focused on liberating herself from musical forms.

Dominique Fils-Aimé is Radio-Canada’s Jazz Revelation of 2019 and her sophomore album won “Jazz album of the year” at the ADISQ gala and was short-listed for the Polaris Music Prize.
