One of the most promising bass-baritones of his generation, recognized internationally for his “beautiful, blooming tone and magnetic stage presence” (San Francisco Chronicle), Philippe Sly won first prize at the prestigious Montreal International Musical Competition in 2012. After an acclaimed stage debut with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and at the Salzburg Festival, Philippe Sly saw his career develop quickly. Hailed in the role of Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) at the San Francisco Opera, a role he reprised with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel, Philippe Sly has also been heard at Paris’s Opéra Comique and at Glyndebourne Festival Opera in England. He will be heard soon at Opéra de Paris (Così fan tutte) and in Berlioz’s Les Troyens.
