2012 | Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group | The Wailin’ Jennys | | The JUNO Awards

For The Wailin’ Jennys, their coming together could be considered a “happy accident.” However, that “happy accident” has resulted in a JUNO Award for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year, frequent guest appearances on the prestigious NPR show “A Prairie Home Companion,” and a more than heavy national/international touring schedule. Clearly, The Wailin’ Jennys are more than a happy accident resulting from a one-off gig with Nicky Mehta & Ruth Moody .
The band’s latest effort, BRIGHT MORNING STARS (produced by Mark Howard (Sam Roberts, Tragically Hip) and JUNO nominee David Travers-Smith), was released in early 2011 to much anticipation and critical acclaim. The release features the band’s signature harmonies, but pushes them from “folk” to the perfect mix of Americana, pop and traditional – broadening their appeal, directly reflecting in the over 56 weeks they spent on Billboard’s charts.
