Broken Social Scene (BSS) remains one of the most significant manifestations of Canada’s burgeoning indie rock movement, a sprawling and relentlessly creative collective that has produced some of the nation’s most dynamic musical accomplishments. Materializing at the start of the 2000s with the lo-fi atmospheric recordings of K.C. Accidental’s Kevin Drew and By Divine Right’s Brendan Canning, the band debuted with 2001’s Feel Good Lost and introduced a string of household names into the Canadian musical consciousness. Broken Social Scene’s profile, and its roster, exploded with the 2002 release of You Forgot It In People. With appearances from Leslie Feist, Jason Collett and a host of others, the album garnered worldwide attention, and landed Broken Social Scene a JUNO Award for Alternative Album of The Year. 2004 saw the well-received B-sides and rarities collection Bee Hives, and in 2005 BSS released its third, self-titled full length. In Spring 2010, BSS returned triumphantly with Forgiveness Rock Record, a sonically refined offering that garnered universally glowing reviews and debuted at No. 1 in Canada.
