London, Ontario native Rob McConnell is a four-time Juno Award winner in the Jazz Album category. He has gained international notoriety over the past 25 years as trombonist, band leader, arranger and composer with the progressive big band he formed in Toronto in the early ’70s, The Boss Brass. During the mid-’60s, McConnell had worked and recorded with fellow Canadian Music Hall Of Fame inductee Maynard Ferguson in New York before returning to Toronto to join Phil Nimmons’ group, Nimmons ‘N’ Nine Plus Six in the late ’60s.
A perennial Grammy nominee in the US, McConnell and the band have been honored with that award a number of times with the latest coming last year in the category of Instrumental Arrangement with Vocal.
