On Friday, November 8th, the 67th GRAMMY nominations were announced, and Canada’s music scene is proud to acknowledge the multiple Canadian artists who received nominations across various categories.
Audio Engineer Serban Ghenea leads the Canadian nominees with an impressive five nominations. Ghenea’s work is celebrated in several categories, including Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, Best Dance/Electronic Recording, and Record of the Year. His talent has also earned him two Album of the Year nominations for his contributions to Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet.
Montreal’s KAYTRANADA, celebrated for his distinct fusion of electronic, hip-hop, and dance, received three nominations, including Best Dance/Electronic Recording, Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Remixed Recording.
Acclaimed conductor and pianist Yannick Nézet-Séguin is also recognized with three nominations for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Opera Recording. Meanwhile, producer and songwriter Cirkut earned two nominations for Record of the Year and Album of the Year for his contributions to Charli XCX’s brat and her single “360.”
Adding to Canada’s representation, songwriters Elizabeth Lowell Boland, Megan Bülow, and Nate Ferraro received nominations for Best Country Song and Song of the Year for their work on Beyoncé’s hit “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
The Canadian talent continues with nominations for Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Deborah Cox, audio engineer Shawn Everett, metal group Spiritbox, R&B artist Charlotte Day Wilson , producer Jack Rochon and The Weeknd.
