Yellow Bear Nakota (YB Nakota) is an Indigenous artist, cultural support worker, gang-prevention advocate, and motivational speaker from Paul First Nation, Treaty 6 Territory. A proud Land Back warrior and frontline voice for his people, he carries the strength of his ancestors into every song and every stage. Raised in the shadow of intergenerational trauma, Yellow Bear’s story is one of survival and transformation. His mother survived day school, his grandmother survived residential school, and he himself survived foster care, gangs, jails, and institutions. It was inside one of those institutions that the drum found him — and from that moment, his path changed. Music became his medicine, his calling, and his gift to the world. since then, Yellow Bear has dedicated his life to helping youth and communities heal through culture, song, and ceremony. He has traveled across North America — from reservations and small towns to major stages in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Manitoba, six Nations, and Fresno, California. As a sundancer, singer, and cultural person, he embodies resilience and hope. His voice carries messages of survival, healing, and strength, reaching audiences worldwide through social media, where people share how his music has become medicine for their own lives.
