WORLD MUSIC ALBUM OF THE YEAR | Nomadica | | The JUNO Awards

Nomadica re-imagines and recombines the rich, soulful and righteously celebratory music of the Arabs, Gypsies and Jews. Led by JUNO-award winning trumpeter and composer David Buchbinder and vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and dancer Roula Said (partners in music and life), the band is made up of some of Toronto's finest and most versatile World, Jazz and Rock musicians.  Buchbinder's original compositions and creative arrangements join forces with Said's powerful and lyrical vocals, supported by a frontline of masterful improvisers and a heavily funky rhythm section.

Dance of the Infidels unleashes a mighty sound with the collaboration of award winning indie producer, Chris Stringer (Timbre Timbre, Luke Doucet), and some smokin’ guest musicians: Turkish vocalist Brenna MacCrimmon (Karsilama, Turkwaz), tuba man Rob Teehan (late of Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Heavyweight Brass Band), and a special collaboration with Hungarian world music superstars Besh o Drom. Producer Stringer noted: “this is starting to sound like a kind of Gypsy Zepplin!”
