CLASSICAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR: LARGE ENSEMBLE | Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir | | The JUNO Awards

Renowned for its dynamic, engaging and soulful performances, Tafelmusik is one of the world’s leading period-instrument ensembles, performing on instruments and in styles appropriate for the era of the music. We are Canada’s most toured orchestra, having performed in over 350 cities in 32 countries, and are proud to call Toronto our home. Here we perform over 50 concerts a year for a loyal and enthusiastic audience, at our home venues of Trinity St. Paul’s Centre (Jeanne Lamon Hall) and Koerner Hall, as well as at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. As well as traditional concerts at our home venues, Tafelmusik has enveloped a range of other concert experiences, including innovative memorized multimedia performances, Haus Musik (a new strand of immersive concert experiences), and brand new for this year, an intimate series of chamber music concerts, Close Encounters.

The orchestra is joined in performances by the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.

Tafelmusik has released over 80 CDs and has been awarded numerous international recording prizes, including nine JUNO Awards. This fall sees the release of the live recording of Beethoven Symphony no. 9, completing Tafelmusik’s cycle of Beethoven Symphonies with conductor Bruno Weil.
