POP ALBUM OF THE YEAR | Coleman Hell | | The JUNO Awards

Never one to hit repeat, Coleman Hell is more than eager to deliver on his long-awaited Columbia Records debut album Summerland. We already know he has a knack for enticing us with provocative, unconventional tracks that we can’t quite get out of our heads. His breakthrough smash single “2 Heads” caused one reviewer to characterize his rise as if ‘he was shot out of a cannon.’
The Canadian native has found himself in-demand for almost a year-and-half, describing the massive hit as ‘doing a complete 180 on my life.’ The song passed 80 million-plus global streams on Spotify, went three times platinum in Canada and gold in the U.S., spent more than five months on Billboard’s Alternative chart (multiple weeks entrenched at the Top 5 at Alternative Radio), and became one of the most requested recurrent tracks of the year. His relentless touring, including runs with Robert DeLong, Twenty One Pilots and as a mainstay on the summer Festival circuit, set the stage for his subsequent hit single “Fireproof,” which has also achieved gold status, respectively. Along the way he was nominated for “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” at the 2016 JUNO Awards and “Best New Artist” at the 2016 MMVAs.
