After winning a number of top awards during his time at OCAD, Philip Sportel spent the following eight years making music videos. Recently, he’s had Colin Munroe’s “The Fight of My Life” nominated for a MMVA and took top prize for, Rouletta’s “One Bullet” at the ReelWorld film festival. He’s worked as a documentary cinematographer, shooting Numbers Guy, a half hour documentary about David Teitel, an eccentric cashier with a remarkable memory, and worked on development and directing of the CityTV show, Illusions of Grandeur, which follows magician Zack Mirza as he performs across North America. He’s now working alongside Zack in the magic industry, creating magic for TV, close-up and stage performance. He’s co-founder of a business that develops social justice content for institutions across Canada. He approaches his work with a sense of both intellect and aesthetics, putting consistent and well-thought-out themes into a beautiful and appealing package. He’s also the father of a wonderful twelve year old daughter.
