Since their first album release of SPEAKERS OF TOMORROW, Bruthers of Different Muthers (BODM) have already made a stance in the movement of alter-Native rock receiving an award at the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (APCMAs) 2011 for Best Rock CD. As native musicians and songwriters, the songs the Bruthers create are deeply expressive, explosive, and emotion–wrenching, at times incorporating chants and lyrics inspired by their Native grass roots. Their first single “Speakers of Tomorrow” encapsulates their unique sound and message to the world. A catchy, energetic, pithy sing-along rock anthem, it also carries a strong statement asking the question of all generations: “who’ll be the speakers of tomorrow?” Their second single, “How Long” is a melodic, emotional song dedicated to the missing women of Vancouver Downtown Eastside and the Highway of Tears. The song showcases lead singer Donovan Bruyere’s vocal depth and range and the deep drum beats of Michel Bruyere. Motivated by the support and acclaim they received from the voting Aboriginal base across Canada propelling them to their first award on their first album, the Bruthers are hyped to share their talent and passion with the rest of Canada and the world. Three members currently tour with Buffy-Sainte Marie.
