Jimmy Rankin is one of Canada’s finest and most popular singer-songwriters. Jimmy started his professional career as a lead singer, guitarist and songwriting lynchpin for multi-platinum Celtic-pop heroes The Rankin Family. In 2001 Jimmy embarked on a solo career with his critically acclaimed, award-winning CD SONG DOG, followed by HANDMADE in 2003, EDGE OF DAY in 2007 and his latest production, FORGET ABOUT THE WORLD (April 12, 2011). In September 2011, Jimmy won a CCMA for Roots Artist of the Year, and has garnered critical acclaim and hit chart status for FORGET ABOUT THE WORLD. This year, Jimmy is a top contender with five Music Nova Scotia Awards nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and SOCAN Songwriter of the Year. In November, Jimmy will be presented with his ninth SOCAN top radio play award for the single “Up All Night.” Solo and Rankin Family awards include: five JUNO Awards, 26 ECMAs, 9 SOCAN top radio play awards, six Canadian Country Music Awards and two Canadian Radio Music Awards including Best New Solo Artist – Adult Contemporary. He was also a 2010 semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competiton.
