CARAS AND THE JUNO AWARDS ARE COMMITED TO EVENT SUSTAINABILITY

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and the JUNO Awards are committed to event sustainability. Since 2008, CARAS and the JUNO Awards have worked closely with their partner Strategin Solutions to develop a comprehensive strategy for improving the sustainability of JUNO Awards events.

Implementation of the strategy involves engaging and encouraging all JUNO partners to minimizing and managing waste, decreasing the consumption of water and energy, reducing the carbon footprint, and purchasing environmentally and socially responsible goods and services. Venues, accommodations, production companies, caterers, printers, and transport providers are all on board and playing a key part in facilitating the achievement of sustainability objectives.

Several key partnerships also greatly support the JUNO Awards event sustainability strategy. For the fifth year in a row, CARAS and the JUNO Awards have partnered with Bullfrog Power, who is providing all of the 2012 JUNO Awards events, accommodations, and the CARAS office with clean, renewable electricity. In the third year of its partnership, Carbonzero is providing carbon offset credits to offset emissions resulting from flights purchased by CARAS, production crew travel, and ground transportation. 2012 is also the third consecutive year CARAS will be working with Me to We Style, who will be producing all JUNO branded apparel with the use of organic cotton and viscose from bamboo.

Over the next few months CARAS will be announcing new and exciting sustainability initiatives for the 2012 JUNO Awards, so make sure to check out the JUNO Awards website to learn more!
