St. John’s, NL – Planning for the 2010 JUNO Awards and festivities kicked into full swing today as the Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador and Ken Marshall, Chair of the Host Committee, unveiled the official branding for the Host City 2010 JUNO Awards festivities and announced membership of the Host Committee. Senator Fabian Manning, on behalf of the Government of Canada, His Worship Mayor Dennis O’Keefe and Melanie Berry, President of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Science (CARAS) also participated in today’s announcement.
The branding – “Ruckus on the Edge,” designed by Target Marketing, is an expression of Newfoundland and Labrador’s unique culture and creativity. Depicted with bright, cheerful colours of clapboard row houses adorned with speakers, “Ruckus on the Edge” creates an energetic and playful vibe, inviting people all across the country to celebrate the best in Canadian music – Newfoundland and Labrador style.
“The Host City logo for the 2010 JUNO Awards is literally bursting with energy,” said Premier Williams. “It’s a strong, bold visual expression and it reflects the strength and vigor of Newfoundland and Labrador and its people. With the unveiling of the official Host City logo, the countdown to the ‘Ruckus’ can begin. The province looks forward to hosting these exciting festivities and celebrating the Canadian music industry.”
